Fishnets For Vigoda

Though the heading of this has nothing to do with Skeeryvilletown, I thought I'd join in the many other bloggers who are honoring Abe with this wonderful mention. :) Although I think 3-Eyed Devil Cat would be smashing in a like pair of fishnets.

SKEERYVILLETOWN GOES TO RICHMOND!

I'll be displaying and selling new pieces of Skeeryvilletown artwork at Ravencon, a science fiction/fantasy/horror convention in Richmond, April 25-27. I'll post more details soon, along with a sneak peek at some of the new art.

Sorry I've been away so long. Writing has taken a great deal of my time, but I've dusted off the watercolor paper, found my paints and pens, and am ready to wield them once again.

Total Poop Head!

I'm a total poop head! I have yet to get more artwork scanned and blogged for your perusal! I'm been swamped up past my eyeballs with writing (a good thing) to the point that the artwork has slid to the side (a bad thing.) Soon, though, I promise!

Your poop head,

Necon Recovery!

Well, anyone who has been to Necon knows you don't recover in one day. I've been going since 1988 and I should know this better than anyone. So....instead of jumping back into my blog on the 24th, here I am on the 28th, at last coming back up out of my glorious Necon haze. Anyhoo...I'll be posting new Skeeryvilletown art starting tomorrow.

Cheers!

Your Name in Skeeryvilletown and My Trip to Necon!

Hi All!

I'm going to be on a blogging hiatus from today through July 25...I am getting ready to go to Necon (a FANTASTIC horror convention in Rhode Island) and so between now and when we leave on July 18th, I'll be doing pictures for the Necon art show and won't be able to list any new ones here on my Skeeryvilletown blog.

However, I do want to make an offer! If anyone would like a commissioned piece of Skeeryvilletown artwork with YOUR NAME ON IT, just give me a holler at emvirginia@yahoo.com . These make cool gifts for yourself or any other person who likes things on the strange side.

The name pictures will be similar to those above, featuring 3 or 4 Skeeryvilletown citizens of your choice. The current citizens are:
  • 3-Eyed Devil Cat the sideshow freak
  • StinkySquare Eyes the cat
  • Fire Breathing Dog O' Death the other sideshow freak
  • Boo Boy the large ghost
  • Bit O' Boo the little ghost
  • Battie the vampire
  • Rattie the rat
  • Little Furry Run-No the roadkill
  • Wolfie the werewolf
  • Bonehead the skeleton dog
  • The witch sisters (there are two but hey, I can split up the pair)
The price is $30 for names 4 or less letters, $40 for names 5 letters or more; you pick the color for the lettering - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, gray, pink, or purple. I'll add other spooky odds and ends to "flesh it out." Each picture comes matted and will be completed and delivered within three weeks of the order's placement. Shipping (USA) is first class and depending on the size of the artwork will run between $3.50 - $4.50, no more.

Cheers!

Little Furry Run-No: Dreams of the Dead

Little Furry Run-No is Skeeryvilletown's resident roadkill. He does little, even less than 3-Eyed Devil Cat. Here is what I imagine is going on in the decaying brain cells of Little Furry Run-No: a dream of lovely Skeervilletown images that linger in his mushed up synapses. This comes in an 8" X 10" mat, $15.00. To purchase contact me at:

Hey! Is it Monday Already???

So I haven't posted for two whole days! Yikes! My excuse is that I'm scrambling to finish two stories and am working on a new nonfiction book that requires TONS of research. I'll have a new Skeeryvilletown picture up tomorrow, promise!

Stinky Square Eye's Friends Play Hide and Go Seek

This picture shows other feline citizens of Skeeryvilletown, all Stinky Square Eye's friends, though they get irritated with Stinky frequently. Here, they are hiding, though not terribly well. It's like those pictures in Highlights for Children where you could see the "hidden" stuff waaaaaay too easily. This piece comes in a 5" X 7" mat. SOLD!

Fourth O' July

Hope everybody is having a nifty-neato 4th. I've been busy...just switched over to an incredible new computer, a gift from my honey Cort!!! It's a MacBook, with a brand new flat-screen LCD exterior display. I've been setting it up and learning how to do stuff, and now I think it's starting to make some sense. So, until I get a new Skeeryvilletown picture done to put on Ebay, here is one from the Archives! This is a little 4th of Julyish, what with Stinky Square Eyes having a marshmallow cookout and all.

Cheers!

"Almost Heaven"? Time Will Tell...

I'm leaving for West Virginia early this morning with my sister, my mom, and my 13-year-old niece, all crammed into my little PT Cruiser. Why? Well, some of my mom's father's side of the family came from WV, somewhere around Charleston, and Mom is having one of those "gotta look at my roots" kind of deal going on. None of the family still lives there, we don't think. They all crawled east over the mountains into Virginia about 100 years ago. We'll be driving 3 1/2 hours to see, well, gravestones and maybe some old houses that haven't been torn down. We're staying in a cheap motel that doesn't have a pool (the niece will be less than thrilled). When I booked it I was going for inexpensive and at that point in time, the niece wasn't coming along. Anyhoo, we'll come home late tomorrow night.

My point of posting this terribly enthralling note is to say I won't be here to post a new Skeeryvilletown picture today and very likely not tomorrow. I will resume Sunday. Wish me luck on the jaunt. At the very least I hope to return with a new touristy t-shirt or coal mine snowglobe.

Cheers!

Pi-cat-sso

3-Eyed Devil Cat has many facets, many layers, many levels. Here is revealed one of those layers/facets/levels - that of painter. What does 3-Eyed Devil Cat paint? I have no idea. I think maybe the paintings, or the concepts of paintings, reside inside somewhere. Somewhere dark. Somewhere untouchable. But that doesn't mean 3-Eyed Devil Cat isn't a painter. I mean, I'm not about to argue the point. This picture comes in a 5" X 7" mat. To purchase, contact me at: emvirginia@yahoo.com

One From the Archives

No time to do a new picture today...was out and about for many hours. So I'm posting a picture from the Skeeryvilletown archives. This is the artwork I used on my 2006 Christmas cards. Ah, snow. I like snow. Snow is good. Especially today when the heat index was 103. Ack!

I'll do better tomorrow. Got a new picture almost ready to go!

Up, Up, & Away in my Skulliful Balloon

I've never ridden in a hot air balloon. I know that the minute it got 100 or so feet off the ground I'd fall out. Somehow. Out. Down. Splat. But these Skeeryvilletown citizens are out for the day in their skulloon, enjoying the breeze and the sky and the height. Except maybe Rattie who looks a tad uncertain. This comes in an 11" X 14" mat, price $30.00. To buy, contact me at: emvirginia@yahoo.com .

Summer O' Love

Yeah, it's still hot around here. There, too? I anxiously await thunderstorms and the occasional stray, shady clouds as I go about my dreadfully exciting life. In the meanwhile, let me offer up a little Skeeryvilletown picture that celebrates the heat of summer and the love it inspires. This is 3-Eyed Devil Cat in the Summer O' Love. Can ya feel the love? I sure can. SOLD!

BIZZY DAY!!!

Hi All!

Today I'll be hitting the ground running...I'm researching my next nonfiction book this morning, going to see Evan Almighty this afternoon in Charlottesville at a special "Cast & Crew" showing (in spite of the crappy reviews it's gotten, I love this movie; it's funny and sweet and the animals are total honeys!) When I get back I have to come up with two new novel concepts and work on a short story that is due Friday. Will I make it through today in one piece? Only time will tell. If so, I will post another Monster-A-Day tonight on a separate post. If not, I'll try to pull my brain back inside my head and my organs back inside my body so I can get back to regular art posting tomorrow.

Cheers, ya'll!!

Summer Dippin' in Skeeryvilletown

In this piece, several Skeeryvilletown citizens have decided to cool off in the Municipal Pool. I don't know about you guys, but a hot day like today makes me long for a pool or lake of crystal blue chilly water filled with ghosts, demons, and sideshow freaks. This comes in an 8" X 10" mat. SOLD!

Bye ya'll!

Takin' Friday Off for da Movies!

No Skeeryvilletown post today; been out of town (Charlottesville) to see a matinee of Evan Almighty, in which my SO Cortney Skinner, my sister Barb, my daughter Erin, and my son-in-law Ben are extras. LOVED IT!!!! My car gets more "on screen time" than any of the extras I know, but that's cool! If you see the film, watch the scene when Wanda Sykes and crew get out of their car in the Huntsville neighborhood to see the ark. My car is the little silver PT Cruiser right in front of them. Even my license plate - IRITGUD - shows up! I'm visible briefly in the very early scene showing Evan campaigning in the park and then dancing during the end credits. But hey, we had a ball being involved and the movies was wonderful! Going to see the movie again tonight in Staunton with Matt and Deena Warner (who was also an extra!) and some other folks.

Will post another piece of art tomorrow, ya'll!

3-Eyed Devil Snow Cat

I don't know about where the rest of you guys are, but it's been really hot here in Virginia..like in the freakin' 90's! Yeah, I know, 30 years from now that will be pleasant and spring-like, but for now....pant pant. So, I thought, why not a nice, cooooooool Skeeryvilletown picture this time, one that harkens to chilly days, knit hats, snow-covered grounds, scarves, frost-bitten body parts, and doughnuts. Stinky Square Eyes has built a 3-Eyed Devil Snow Cat to keep him warm. This picture comes in an 8" X 10" mat. $15.00. To buy, contact me at: emvirginia@yahoo.com

Ooopsie! But Check Out Evan's Ark!

Ooops, I didn't get to my Monster-A-Day today...! Bad me. Bad, bad me. Been working on a couple short stories with upcoming deadinlines. However, I'll get it on (!) tomorrow, so stay tuned!

In the meanwhile, check out Cortney Skinner's new CafePress site: http://www.cafepress.com/skinnerbox . Here you can find merchandise featuring the gorgeous painting (as seen above) he did of the ark in the new Steve Carell film, Evan Almighty. Cort and I worked as extras on the movie for a period of 2 1/2 months last spring and early summer (absolute fun!) and while on site, Cort was asked by the director to make a painting of the ark. Cort's finished portrait was a hit with Tom Shadyac and many of the actors including Carell, Lauren Graham, and Ed Helms. On Cort's CafePress site, the portrait is available on shirts, totebags, a mousepad, poster, postcards, and as a framed print. Just click on the above link to see 'em!

Be back tomorrow!

A Pirate's Life For Me

Stinky Square Eyes, one of Skeeryvilletown's resident critters, dreams of the joys of pirate life...drinking, pillaging, burning, sea-faring, and just looking damned cool in his hat and pegleg. This painting comes in an 8" X 10" mat. SOLD!

3-Eyed Devil Cat - Marooned

This picture, with apologies to Howard Pyle, shows 3-Eyed Devil Cat on a desolate shore, dumped by fellow pirates with only a canteen, jacket, and hat as pals. In the distance, waves crash on the sand. What to do, ye hardy, eye-patched pussy, what to do? This comes in an 8" X 10" mat. SOLD!

Bye!
